How To Keep Your Skin in Check During Cold Weather

How To Keep Your Skin in Check During Cold Weather

Everyone loves the time of year when the temperature starts to drop a little bit. You get to live in big chunky sweaters and cozy up on the couch in the fluffiest of blankets. It’s all fun and games until the cold air takes over your skin. It really is no secret that when the chill in the air picks up so does the dryness in your skin. But whose to say we can’t be glowy and hydrated all year round? The skincare world has so many amazing products out there, high end and drug store and I’m here to fill you in on a few of my go-tos!

Full disclaimer- I am no esthetician by any means but I am a freak when it comes to skincare and have tried my fair share of products. With that being said, here are some products that I love and are constantly reaching for around Fall/Winter season.

First up and probably my favorite of this line up is the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. If you haven’t already fallen in love with this mask I can assure you will after one use. I use this when I fly, I sleep in it and sometimes even dab it under my eyes before putting make-up on. It’s like an energy drink for you face- really wakes things up. Not only does this hydrate my skin but I feel like it really evens everything out-so it helps me a lot when I look like a dry, splotchy, hot mess. You need this in your life for sure.

Another easy favorite of mine is the Elemis Superfood Facial Oil. This oil has so many good ingredients and will hydrate your skin like no other. It has tons of anti-oxidants and omegas leaving your skin super plump and glowy. I feel like a lot of people are nervous to use facial oils in their skin care routine- but I promise this product does all the right things. I massage this oil into my face and neck every morning before putting on my moisturizer and it keeps me super hydrated throughout the day and it also is a great layer under foundation keeping everything super dewy-just the way we like it.

Next up is one of the most staple products in everyones skin care routine. Moisturizer. I love moisturizer, especially when it’s cold out. One of the best in my opinion is the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream. People, if you have not tried this I highly suggest Amazon Priming it to your house asap. It’s so good and you need it in your life. I put this over top of the Elemis Facial Oil and they are the perfect combo. Like peanut butter and jelly or wine and cheese. Ya know they just really work together. The texture of this cream feels heavy and packed with hydration but super light at the same time, it doesn’t really make sense but when you try it for yourself you’ll know what I mean. The best part is it will literally last you 24 hours of moisture and a little goes a long way.

This next product is something I feel like not everyone uses in their daily make-up routine. But you definitely should. Primer. Priming my face is honestly my favorite part of putting on my makeup. I love the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Primer. Hungover or not this stuff saves the day every time. Not only does this keep your makeup locked in but it is a HYDRATING PRIMER. Hallelujah. The coconut water in this primer leaves your skin feeling, looking and smelling amazing. A true dream.

Last but never least-lips. Nobody wants dry cracking lips and that is exactly what we all get when the cold weather rolls in. I keep my lips hydrated with the classic Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I have an obsessive amount of this stuff. I have a tube in my purse, my bathroom, my car, my nightstand, you name it and I’m stocked. It has the texture of vaseline and is super smooth and hydrating. It also could double as a clear lip gloss but not the sticky gross stuff this is the good stuff.

Happy Holidays and may all your hydrated dewy skin dreams come true!

xx
