Secrets To Being The Ultimate Rush Crush

Sorority rush is right around the corner, and we have all the tips you need to be everyone’s rush crush! Here are some important things to know for all of our babes:

Have An Open Mind

Going into Rush Week you may already have an idea on what sororities you think you want to join, but stay open minded. Regardless of who you know, or what you think you know about a certain house, this process is about becoming a part of something bigger than yourself. Staying open minded invites unexpected opportunities, and will land you with the sorority that’s right for you!

Ask Them Questions Too

Sure they’re interviewing you, but you’re also interviewing them! You are joining this sisterhood at the end of the day, so make sure it’s the right fit. Ask them about their lives since they have joined, what their philanthropy is and why it is important to them, their favorite part about being in that sisterhood, the reason they love the sorority they are in. Asking these questions showcases your interest, and will help you narrow down your choices.

Be Yourself

Talking to so many people every day can be intimidating, but it is important to be yourself throughout the process. You want to remain true to who you are because you are looking for the right sorority for you. Pretending to be someone else will give you major imposter syndrome once the new wears off. The goal is to surround yourself with people who you enjoy, so being true to yourself will help you achieve it!

This also goes for the way you dress. Your personal style should shine through and reflect who you are. It is important to adhere to guidelines from PHA, but express yourself in your fashion choices to make a memorable impact.

First Impressions Are Everything

Your first impression is EVERYTHING. You only get one chance to talk to every person you meet, so make each conversation count. You won’t instantly connect with everyone you meet, but practice active listening and carrying a good conversation. Give everyone something good to say about their time with you! Remember, these girls are the first people you are really getting to meet in your college life and you will want to be kind and considerate to everyone! You never know who you will run into down the line.

Stay Present

Another thing to remember is that your rush process is unique to you! Try not to get distracted by other people’s opinions or experiences, and instead stay present with your own. Stay in touch with your friends, but don’t be swayed into anything you might regret.

Also try not to get too caught up in what you said, what you think they thought about you after, or by imagining what could be if you got the house you really want. You need to ground yourself in confidence, trust the process, and take it day by day. Trust us, this will only help you have the most authentic journey to finding your new home!
