How To Master The Slick Back Hairstyle
Hey babes! Today we are bringing you a quick how-to on achieving the perfect slicked back pony/bun. It’s been a trend for a few years now and a personal go-to hairstyle of mine. It’s perfect for making an outfit look extra chic or getting your hair out of the way at the gym. Keep reading for our tricks on perfecting this look!
Start with dirty hair, it will stay up better when it isn’t soft and shiny from a wash. Flat ironing your hair before you put it up might help you get a sleeker look if you have curly or textured hair.
Brush out your hair from from roots to ends.
Add some oil or leave-in conditioner to smooth down all your hair. This step is where I also put a treatment on my hair since it is already going to be up, might as well give it a little extra moisture. My favorite hair treatment is Olaplex.
4. For a super tight pony, flip down your hair and start gathering it into one handful.
5. When you’ve gotten all your hair gathered for a pony, use both hands and a brush to really smooth down all bumps! Don’t be afraid to take your time or even redo this step. Sometimes third time is the charm!
6. Lastly, tie it up! It usually helps to use a thicker hair tie or scrunchie to hold you hair better, or two thinner ties if that’s what you have! Once your hair is tied up feel free to add a little extra oil and finish off with some hair spray to really hold it in.
Final Touches:
To truly make this hairstyle a statement, try adding a bright highlighter, something to make your lips pop, and some big hoops for a striking look!
The high pony gives me ULTIMATE Ariana Grande vibes. This look is great with a girly mini dress, or a skirt and some white sneakers.
The parted low bun is a super chic look. I normally wear it with an elegant dinner look. Try adding in some hair accessories to really make this bold look pop.
You can find me rockin’ this look everyday from work to gym. It’s versatile for every outfit, I highly recommend.
