Halloween DIY: Spooktacular Shots
With holiday season right around the corner everyone is running around planning the perfect party. First up on the holiday roster is one of my personal favorites, Halloween. Halloween is when the leaves are falling, the candy is flowing, and the parties are filled with every costume imaginable. Whether you are the party host or the party guest I have something that is sure to please every character in attendance! Drum roll please…..Halloween themed JELL-O shots! Get ready to learn how to make October’s prime party favor!
I have 3 recipes so that you have the freedom to pick your poison (pun absolutely intended) - Candy Corn Stackers, Gooey Caramel Apple, & Wicked Worm Crawlers. What’s great about these recipes is you can have fun and make them your own. If you would rather put creepy eyeballs in your shots instead of gummy worms, have at it, the options are endless!
Wicked Night Crawler
This one is for all you scary spooky eerie lovers out there- I mean kind of.. it’s just fake worms but hey they are playing the part ok! Seriously this is the one that I feel like you could go really crazy with depending on the mood, add some fake eyeballs or fingers if the worms aren’t enough for you! Awaken your inner wicked night crawler for this one.
How to:
Add 2 cup boiling water to dry jell-o mix- stir until dissolved
Pour in 2 cups vodka - mix it up
Distribute mixture evenly amongst shot glasses
Chill in fridge for about 15 minutes then add your desired props
Pop back in fridge for about an hour until firm
Take out of fridge and watch as your guests stare in pure amazement
Then take a shot of course
Candy Corn Stackers
The most classic halloween treat with a twist! Vanilla vodka- yes please. These little candy corn cuties have layers of sugary goodness and a slight boozy twist.
How to:
Combine 2 packets of unflavored gelatin and 1 cup of boiling water- stir until dissolved
Once dissolved add in 1/2 can of condensed milk & 2/3 cup vodka- stir all together
This mixture will be split in half for your bottom and top layer
Evenly distribute bottom white layer then place in fridge for about 30-35 mins to firm
For the middle orange layer add 1 cup boiling water to the dry mix (1 pack orange jell-o and 1 pack unflavored gelatin) -stir until dissolved then add 1/3 cup vanilla vodka
Evenly distribute orange layer on top of the white bottom layer and place in fridge to firm for another 30 minutes
For the final top layer retrieve the other half of the mix that you set aside from before and add a couple drops of yellow food coloring (if the mix has set pop in microwave until melted)
Pour the rest of the mix evenly over all of the glasses and set in fridge for another 30 minutes
Take out your beautiful masterpiece and go enjoy your hard-earned treats!
Gooey Caramel Apple
Who doesn’t love a nice crisp gooey caramel apple? This is that exactly except with a puckery yummy kick of vodka. These are so delicious it will honestly be hard to share, so make sure to set a stash aside.
How to:
Add 1 cup boiling water to green apple jell-o mix- stir until dissolved
Mix in pucker and both types of vodka- mix mix mix
Evenly distribute mix into shot glasses leaving enough room at the top for caramel sauce
Chill in fridge for about an hour until jell-o has set
Top your firmed jell-o with caramel and chill in fridge until ready to serve
Pat yourself on the back and go indulge in all of the gooey goodness!
