Sorority Outfits for Recruitment
Hey rushee! Unsure what to wear during sorority recruitment? This guide outlines rush dress code with links to the trendiest styles all from American Threads! You can shop as you read!
If you’re planning on participating in sorority recruitment, first of all, congratulations! You’re about to embark on an exciting new journey that will provide you with endless opportunities and lifelong friendships. Although the process can seem a bit daunting, I promise it’s so worth it in the end.
Planning ahead is one of the best ways to relieve some of those pre-rush jitters and knowing what to wear is a great place to start! Although your recruitment outfits shouldn’t play a huge role in the process, looking and feeling your best will only help set you up for success. That’s why I’ve put together the ultimate guide outlining what to wear throughout recruitment. So without further ado, let’s get into it!
Every school is a little bit different, but sorority recruitment is generally divided into four rounds: Welcome, Philanthropy, Sisterhood, and Preference. Each round gets progressively dressier until Bid Day, which is when you find out what sorority you’ll be joining.
Round 1: Welcome
This round is your first official introduction to each chapter.
This is the most casual day of recruitment and typically requires the most walking, so comfortable shoes are a must! Rushees are often given matching recruitment t-shirts that you’re free to style as you please. Although this is the most laid back round, a good guideline would be to dress like you’re going out to brunch with your girlfriends. I would recommend a cute skirt or skort with nice sandals or sneakers. Our Sunday Skin line has lots of casual skirts and comfy dresses that are practical but will still make a statement and a great first impression. Their two-piece sets also take some of the guesswork out of things.
Round 2: Philanthropy Day Outfits
Philanthropy is the first round you are no longer with your original rush group. Now the amount of houses you visit become less as you begin narrowing your choices. Sororities use this round to teach you about their philanthropy and the dress code gets slightly more formal.
For this recruitment outfit, a casual dress or romper with either sandals or flats are great options! It's essential to dress in a way that reflects your personal style while still appearing professional and respectful. The colors in our Sunday Skin line are pastel and muted, making them fun yet elegant.
Round 3: Sisterhood
During Sisterhood, conversations become deeper as you get to spend more time with your remaining houses. This round is also a little more formal than the previous, so I would recommend a classy recruitment outfit. In order to achieve this, I would suggest wearing a rush dress paired with small heels.
Round 4: Preference Round Recruitment Outfits
Preference is the last chance you have to talk to your remaining houses before Bid Day. Emotions are typically high for both rushees and active members. Active members will often share what their chapter means to them as you get to make your final decision. This is the most formal you will dress all of recruitment, so think cocktail attire.
Bid Day Sorority Recruitment Outfits
Bid Day is the day you finally get to open your bid card and discover which sorority you’ll be joining. Each chapter will have recruitment shirts premade for their new members, so it is back to informal and comfy rush outfits. These sorority outfits can include casual bottoms and comfy shoes is all you’ll need! Check out our Sunday Skin line for trendy skorts, crop tops, two-piece sets and more.
From entering the first chapter during Welcome Round to running to your new sisterhood on Bid Day, sorority recruitment is an experience you’ll never forget. I hope this guide to sorority outfits for recruitment helps ease any uncertainty you might have on what to wear throughout the process. Now you can focus on what’s really important; finding the group of women who will best support you and help you grow into your full potential. You got this girl!
