How to be the Best Friendsgiving Host

How to be the Best Friendsgiving Host

With so much to be grateful for this holiday season, it is the perfect opportunity to show your friends how much you love them! Hosting a Friendsgiving that’s original and enjoyable can be a little overwhelming, but the warm memories are well worth it. Here is a checklist for how to cover all your bases this year!

The Ambiance

Ambiance is everything when it comes to being a good host. Whether its music or a movie, background noise is always a good way to soothe awkward moments, provide conversation starters, and complete any setting. This Friendsgiving, you should try one of these two out!

1.) Shared Spotify Playlist

Spotify has an amazing feature where you can create a collaborative playlist that allows all users with the link to add songs to the same playlist! This is the best way to make sure everyone likes the music and takes away the stress of queuing music throughout the night. Plus, after the night is over, you will always have the playlist for sweet memories and you have a sneaky insight on your friends music taste.

2.) Comfort Show/ Movie Marathon

To add to the cozy vibes, put on a beloved movie series or show to give guests a choice to watch or continue mingling. Your guests won’t feel like they need to pay attention to the show but have the option to gather and relax. My personal favorite picks are Friends (very fitting for Friendsgiving), Harry Potter, Parks and Rec, The Office, Twilight, Gilmore Girls, and Back to the Future.

The Decor

Now that the mood is set, time to get the visuals in order! Make sure to light your cutest candles, turn on your string lights, and dim the lights, it’s about to get cozy. Meshing gratitude and aesthetics is easier than you’d probably think!

1.) Thankful Table Runner

This idea is super simple and sentimental! All you need is to get a paper roll and some fun markers! Roll out a table-length strip of paper down the middle of your dining table and lay out your markers. Feel free to set food, drink, and table decor on to of it. Guests can now write what they are thankful for all around the table runner. This not only a practical and cute activity, but enriching.

2.) Photo Opp

Pics or it didn’t happen. Having an aesthetic photo background is a must for a successful get-together! Try out some cute balloons that spell out “FRIENDS” or “THANKFUL” as a fun backdrop. Add some more decorations to a nearby table and set up a try pod for your guests to use! This is also the perfect opportunity to pull out your polaroid!

The Activities

Alright, now it’s time to give thanks with some fun activities! These activities can be a little something to be hands-on with your loved ones in creating, and also something to cherish forever!

1.) Fall Flower bouquet

Who says flowers are only for spring? Pick up some fresh, dried, faux, or even wooden flowers and some twine/ribbon! For this activity just lay out all of your beautiful floral pieces and allow your guests to come to collect their favorite arrangement and make a bouquet! Flowers are beyond delightful and this is a beautiful activity to slow things down.

2.) Friendship Bracelet Making

Another tender and sentimental activity is to make friendship bracelets and trade them! Show your friends how thankful you are for them and have everyone bring some beads to mix and match for the ultimate friendship bracelet collection!

Alright, alright. I know you’re probably wondering where the food is. Food is so deeply personal so I’ll leave that to you and your friends to decide! A potluck is the best way to ease any stress of hosting a dinner and is perfectly relevant to the spirit of Friendsgiving. Thank you for tuning in and I hope you know that we at American Threads are so grateful for you! Have an amazing night, Babes!

Toodles!

Nancy :)
